Golfen in Thailand...es muss nicht Hua Hin oder Phuket sein!
Es regnet, es stürmt, es schüttet. Golfplätze stehen unter Wasser und sind gesperrt. Die armen Greenkeeper. Ich frage mich, wie die nach diesem Dauer-Drecks-Wetter unsere Spielwiesen wieder in Ordnung bringen.
Aber wir Spieler und Spielerinnen haben's ja auch nicht so leicht. Was machen wir bloß, wenn unser zweites Zuhause geschlossen hat?
Es gibt viele Möglichkeiten, in der golffreien Phase Dinge zu tun, die auch Spaß machen...um die Enkelkinder kümmern, einfach schnell verreisen, die Golfmesse besuchen, shoppen und idealerweise den Valentinstag nicht vergessen, mal wieder Freunde treffen, die man lange nicht gesehen hat, lesen.
Ich mache von allem etwas in den vergangenen Tagen - heute habe ich beim Stöbern in FB einen Beitrag von Peter Gustafsson gefunden. Mein Freund Günni ist ein guter Freund von ihm, Peter kennt sich als Pro und Golf-Manager bestens auf den Plätzen dieser Welt aus.
Und als ich nun einen Bericht von ihm über seine Thailand-Eindrücke fand, entschied ich mich, seine Schilderungen zu übernehmen.
In Englisch, wie er es geschrieben hat. Erst wollte ich mir die Mühe machen, alles zu übersetzen, aber dann dachte ich mir, ihr versteht den Peter schon im Original...

Today I would like to give you a few tips about making your trip to Asia an unforgettable golf trip. Normally when people talking about Thailand, we talk about golfing in Hua Hin or in Phuket or Pattaya but what many people forget is that the best golf in Thailand is very close to the capital where you also can find a fantastic buzz during the nights and also great food experiences on one of many amazing roof terraces way above the ground.I will give you 4 golf courses you don’t want to miss while travelling to Bangkok and give you an explanation why so. First out will be one of the best courses I have played in my career and a course that meet all your expectations when it comes to a perfect golf course.
This course is located about 40 minutes outside Bangkok. All depends a little bit about how bad the traffic is but this is a very private course but with an unbelievable design and so many amazing golf holes.
Amata Spring is well known for its 17th hole Par 3, where you have to take a boat ride to the green. The hole is quite short depending on where the green is located but when under pressure and a little bit of wind it makes this hole very intimidating. Other great holes on the course is the 2nd Par 5, 9th Par 4 and also the 12th and 18th. Take the time while in Bangkok to play this course and we would be delighted to help you with this.
Another amazing golf course close to Bangkok with an impressive clubhouse. Also as Amata Spring this course there is nothing negative to say about this course. The undulating greens make for many exciting pin placements and are a constant test of one's golfing proficiency. There are several top-class holes among this very strong eighteen. The 6th measuring 218 from the back tees are as challenging as they get with water guarding the right side and bunkers in front and behind the green. In fact, according to competition statistics, this deceiving hole is the most difficult on the course, with a stroke average of 3.38 for the professionals! The par-5 14th is as handsome as they come.

This is a fairly new course close to Bangkok and it is a fantastic set up made with Japanese style. The course it self is a little bit easier then Amata Spring and Thai Country Club but there is several very nice signature holes on this course. My favorite is the 10th Par 5 with water surrounding the whole green on the right side. Also holes like 16 and 18 is visible very nice holes and if you want to experience perfect service this is the place. Nikanti features an impressive modern clubhouse with many amenities only found at private members clubs. Full-length lockers, gourmet food and beverages, observation deck and lounge with satellite TV all make you forget that you are at a daily fee public golf course. Service is also exemplary including 15-minute tee times to ensure a fast pace of play, all-inclusive and non-cash policies, strict “no tipping,” and free local beverages and two meals. All in Nikanti is one of Thailand’s best golf courses and unique Asian golf experience.
Just 30-40 minutes outside Bangkok you will find an amazing golf course in Alpine. It has also hosted Johnnie Walker Classic where Tiger Woods eagle the Par 5 7th on his way to winning it in 2000.
This course require a lots of straight tee shots but the feeling of this course is just amazing. Course in always-great condition and my favorite holes is the 1th and also the par 4 18th.A player’s tip to note is that most of the greens slope from back to front, so keeping the ball below the hole makes scoring much more manageable. Conservative fairway and approach shots will reward while poorly placed shots held subject to costly penalties.
After the golf you will have an amazing time and my advice is to take an hour to enjoy the fantastic food in the gourmet Chinese restaurant after the round.After golf we of course have to recommend some of the best dinner experiences in Asia. My suggestion would be to start the evening in one of many roof terraces in Bangkok. You can basically find these on every 5 star hotel and one of my favorite ones is the Muse Hotel where you find Zuma around the corner located in the St Regis Hotel. It delivers an elegant, fun and informal experience and this is one of my best food experiences during all my travel. Just a place you don’t want to miss in Bangkok. The prices in the restaurant is over average but worth it but also if you want to find an more economic way of dining you have many great Thai restaurants on basically every street corner.After dinner my best suggestion if you want a great nightclub experience is to go to the nightclub Sing Sing Theater. A highly ranked nightclub in Bangkok and just enjoy the buzz of the Bangkok night.
